Accessibility Statement of the Taju Repository of the University of the Arts Helsinki

This accessibility statement applies to the Taju Repository of the University of the Arts Helsinki. This statement was written on 26 January 2021. Its English translation was published on 4 June 2021. The statement was last updated on 8 March 2023.

Taju is the digital publication archive of the University of the Arts Helsinki. It replaced Helda and Doria, the previous publication archives used at Uniarts Helsinki, whose content was migrated to Taju in February 2021. Publications and materials produced at the university, such as theses, artistic research, self-archived copies of research articles, publication series and educational materials, and also digitized sheet music, sound recordings and concert recordings, are stored in the archive. The materials or their metadata are openly available (Open Access).

Accessibility Assessment of the Digital Service

The University of the Arts Helsinki is responsible for the accessibility of the publications, and other materials stored in the repository and has also conducted the accessibility assessment of the publications.

The National Library of Finland is responsible for and has evaluated the accessibility of the user interface.

Non-accessible content

The repository contains materials that is not within the scope of the applicable legislation.

Accessibility legislation does not apply to content in the repository, which has originally been stored in other services used at the university (Helda and Doria) prior to 23 September 2018. This content is not updated, nor is it needed for handling unfinished matters with the authorities.
The repository contains self-archived articles and books and articles which are parts of dissertations, that have initially been published in Helda. These publications are not produced, funded, or supervised by the University of the Arts Helsinki, and therefore accessibility legislation does not apply to them.
Some materials, such as sheet music, archived in the repository can be interpreted as manifestations from the cultural heritage collection and they cannot be converted into a format that meets the accessibility requirements. Accessibility legislation does not apply to them.

Publications may have deficiencies in accessibility, e.g. images and graphs do not have text alternatives, or no title has been given to files.
Dissertations often include articles equivalent to self-archived articles, which do not fall within the scope of the applicable legislation. Therefore dissertations are not fully accessible.
Concert recordings do not have captions and are therefore not fully accessible.
Other materials such as programmes may have deficiencies in accessibility.
