The authors – folklorist Viliina Silvonen, PhD and professional folk musician Emmi Kuittinen, M.Mum – have been collaborating in the field of laments in contemporary Finland. Artist-researcher collaborations form new perspectives and ideas and create multivocal knowledge by joining varying interests and differing ways of knowing, thinking, and communicating of partners whose approaches reflect different ideologies. In this chapter, we reflect on difficulties and advantages encountered during the collaboration and analyse the voices that have emerged. The chapter is structured around autobiographical writings that form dialogical narration and comprise the basis of the analysis.
