Renowned for his virtuosity with the baton, Segerstam shaped the education of over 50 Finnish and international conducting students during his tenure. This article delves into Segerstam's pedagogical legacy, exploring his artistic background and outlining his technical and pedagogical principles through interviews and the author's experiences as a student at the Sibelius Academy. It concludes with an analysis of the impact of Segerstam's teaching on his students' careers.-
